Review: Snowed in for Christmas by Jaqueline Snowe

Thank you Forever for my copy! All thoughts are my own.

From the title alone I knew I NEEDED to read this book. It was super cute, very spicy, and festive. However, it lacked a groundedness I was hoping for so while I loved the tropes and the vibes, it didn’t leave a lasting impression on me.

I will say, I loved that it felt like a little bit of a spin on Legally Blonde. Becca was such a sweet and quirky main character and I liked Harrison too, I just wanted a little bit MORE from them so they felt a little more real.

Synopsis:

Sorority mom Becca Fairfield is used to guys not taking her seriously. She’s too blond, too quirky, or Just. Too. Much. So she’s ditched dating to focus on her job and a house filled with drama and plenty of tea. Now with the holidays and a major blizzard on her doorstep, Becca has everything she needs to survive the next two weeks on her own. Hot cocoa, plenty of books . . . and the memory of a steamy kiss with a certain sexy, grumposaurus next-door neighbor to keep her warm.

Only Becca’s seriously underestimated this Snowpocalypse. So when the power goes out and Harrison Cooper—football coach, master crank, and the guy who acted mega-awkward after said steamy kiss—offers her shelter, it only makes sense to accept. They’ll just be Blizzard Buddies. Hang out, stay safe, and maybe indulge in a little R-rated cuddling. Becca knows that Harrison isn’t the dating kind, and what happens during the storm lasts only as long as the storm. But are they keeping warm . . . or playing with fire?” —NetGalley

What I Liked:

  1. The Tropes—”Snowed In” has to be one of my favorite tropes of all time. The stakes are so high! I just love it.

  2. The Energy of the Characters—Last year I really liked “Tis the Season for Revenge” which was Legally Blonde inspired and I felt like this was Legally Blonde meets The House Bunny in a Hallmark movie. It was super cute!

  3. Festive Vibes—It was super wintry and cozy but not too cheesy Christmas.

What Didn’t Work For Me:

  1. Felt Two Dimensional—I just was missed a deeper connection between the characters. Everything felt a little surface level in my opinion.

  2. Disjointed Meet Cute/Beginning—This is sort of a second chance romance because the characters go on one failed date two years before the novel begins, but it just didn’t feel that way. And the beginning was so strange, it felt like we were starting and stopping until about 30%.
