Weekly Wrap Up 8/26/22

There is nothing harder than coming back to reality after a weekend away. Add in having to close a show, start rehearsals for a new project, a migraine, and feeling out of sorts, the first half of this week was rough. I know the idea of “hustle culture” has been a hot topic lately and it’s been on my mind a lot too. I always feel the need to qualify my exhaustion, like I’ve earned it or something. But we do not earn rest. We are human!

Two things can be true at once: I can be incredibly grateful to be onstage and working while also feeling burnt out and exhausted. Neither makes me less than or a bad person or ungrateful.

So this week, I listened to my body. I had Wednesday evening off and I ran a bath, finished a book, put my phone away, and decided to limit multitasking. I am always scrolling and posting and engaging, because it’s important to my work, but I need to set better boundaries for myself. Can anyone else relate?

When I set these boundaries, I always end up enjoying things more. I didn’t read as much as I wanted to last weekend since we were away, but it felt so good to dedicate time to reading this week. I want to soak up the remaining Summer days so badly.

What I Read:

Love in the Time of Serial Killers // When in Rome

Listening & Watching:

Archetypes // To All the Boys I Loved Before // Only Murders in the Building

Flavors of the Week:

Maple Brown Sugar Oatmilk Creamer // Garlic Butter Ramen from Half Baked Harvest Super Simple

Weekend Plans:

I have rehearsal this weekend but when I’m not there, I will be reading, writing, and relaxing. I’m going to really implement phone boundaries for myself so I don’t waste too much time scrolling. It never leaves me feeling very good and I want to enjoy the remaining Summer days.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
