Books by Trope: Enemies to Lovers
I love the tension of an enemies to lovers/rivals to lovers Romance. There are so many iterations of it that make for great reading material and an even more satisfying moment when they finally give into their passions. I know I’m not alone in loving this trope so I in today’s romance trop round up, we have 10 books that have this trope!
The Simple Wild by KA Tucker
One of my all time favorites. This is a book that I feel oddly protective over because I feel like people are so judgemental over the main character, Calla. But the tension of this romance set in Alaska has major city girl/country boy vibes. Plus it’s a small town, a fantastic cast of characters, and has a lovely story of forgiveness.
Book Lovers by Emily Henry
A new favorite of mine, thanks to a Mr. Charlie Lastra. It’s more rivals to lovers than enemies but wow wow wow, I loved the concept of this one. It’s been everywhere this Summer but for good reason. I think it’s Emily Henry’s best.
The Worst Best Man by Mia Sosa
Ah, this is such a great enemies to lovers for readers who are not fans of a slow burn. Mia Sosa doesn’t make you wait long to break into the tension between this wedding planner and her ex fiance’s brother, who is responsible for her being left at the altar.
Well Met by Jen DeLuca
I recommend this book all the time in the Summer because it has the perfect small town vibes. It takes place at a Renaissance Faire and dang, there’s so much tension between Simon and Emily. Plus sexy pirate energy.
You Had Me at Hola by Alexis Daria
Another book I recommend constantly! This book saved me in 2020 during some of the worst weeks of my life. Two rival actors are working together and with the help of an intimacy coordinator, start to feel sparks fly off set.
Red White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston
There’s not much I can say about this book that hasn’t been said, but if you need a fun, breezy, hopeful read this summer, with fun tension, this is the book to read.
To Love and To Loathe by Martha Watters
If you love season 1 of Bridgerton and want to keep that energy, you’ve got to try this regency romance! It’s such a fun series.
Snapped by Alexa Martin
The final book in the Playbook Series by Alexa Martin! We know I love her. You definitely do not need to read the series in order but I do recommend them all! This one is full of tension and frustration between the star quarterback and communications director.
Written in the Stars by Alexandria Bellefour
A sapphic pride and prejudice retelling, need I say more?
A Duke by Default by Alyssa Cole
There is not enough love for Alyssa Cole’s Reluctant Royals series! There’s is a sexy Scottish swordmaker and NYC socialite in this one.
Let me know what trope you’d like me to dive into next!
