Summer Wardrobe Wishlist + Shopping Sustainably
I’ve shared quite a bit about the journey I’m on to rediscover my personal style and wear clothes in comfortable in but that also make feel good. I like feeling styled and put together but I also don’t like to feel icky in the clothes I’m in. One of my favorite follows, Lauren from Lakeshore Lady, was chatting on her stories recently about the nuanced conversation around fast fashion.
It struck a chord with me because I think highlighting different budgets is hugely important. Shopping from companies that are creating more sustainable pieces of clothing is fantastic. But it can also be expensive, that’s just the reality of the situation. However, shopping from “fast fashion” doesn’t have to be a bad thing if we’re doing our best to make sure were getting enough wear out of the things we buy.
I have never been a trendy person. I like classic style with preppy accents so even if I’m shopping from more affordable stores, I tend to hold onto items for 5+ years because the items aren’t going out of style. Plus, there are some larger sustainable brands that aren’t always catering to extended sizes, which makes it even harder to find clothes I want to wear.
I don’t know if any of that makes sense. Like I said, it’s a very nuanced and real conversation and one I think about frequently as I’m shopping, sharing, and linking. What are you thoughts?
In the spirit of minimalism, I was going through my closet and realized there’s only a few pieces missing from my wardrobe this summer. I linked them below!
Pink Tennis Skirt // Athletic Dress // Crossbody Bag // White Jeans // Gold Heels
Who’s exciting for summer?!
