Favorite Books in Each Trope: Friends to Lovers

When it’s done right, I love a good Friends to Lovers moment. Even better if it a Friends to Enemies to Lovers! I think romance tropes are so fun because you can find whatever you’re in the mood for in the moment and not have to search too far.

I love the tension and stakes of a friends to lovers book. There’s so much that could go right but also go wrong! My husband and I are also a friends to lovers story so maybe that’s why I’m drawn to them lol.

People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry

A new classic. I didn’t love Beach Read but I adored this one. Alex was so sweet and I could really relate to Poppy. It flashes back and forth between past and present and I think just does the trope really well!

Crazy Stupid Bromance by Lyssa Kay Adams

I LOVED Noah in this book. It’s about two best friends, a coder and a cafe owner, who have been resisting their attraction for years. When they both have some major life changes happen around them, they lean on each other in new ways.

Josh and Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating by Christina Lauren

I remember reading this book so quickly because I couldn’t put it down. it’s one of CLo’s best, in my opinion. Josh and Hazel help each other find dates, vowing to never ruin their friendship. And uh…you can guess how that works out.

Love and Other Words by Christina Lauren

This is a recent read for me and I have to say, it lived up to the hype for me! I listened to it on audiobook and thought it was so well done. It tugged on my heart strings! TW for parental loss, car accident.

The Cheat Sheet by Sarah Adams

Okay this is on my TBR and I think I need to read it ASAP. A ballerina and football player? Sounds so cute! Also that is how my parents met, which could be cute or weird, we’ll see how I feel 😂.

Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz

We read and reviewed this book on Read It Or List It! It’s definitely not in the Romance genre, but I found it to be utterly romantic and sweet. It does deal with a lot of heavy subject matter but the characters are so charming. TW: homophobia, hate crime, car accident, transphobia. See all content warnings here.

Addicted to You by Krista Ritchie (Addicted #1)

This is a series I really want to read this year! It’s a TikTok favorite and I could go for a bingeable read right now. It’s about childhood friends who are both suffering from addiction. They come from affluent families and know that if they’re caught, they’ll lose everything so they pretend to be a couple and enable each other’s addictions. It’s a 5 book series that seems messy and bingeable.

Friends Without Benefits by Penny Reid

Another book on my TBR! I’ve never read any Penny Reid but I know she’s quite popular with romance readers. This is enemies to friends to enemies to friends to lovers (yes, that many times) story between a doctor and a comedian!

Like Lovers Do by Tracey Livesay

Can we have a moment for this cover? I discovered Tracey Livesay through TIkTok and have an ARC of her latest book but I am so intrigued by her backlist! This is a neighbors to lovers story.

Truth or Beard by Penny Reid

Penny Reid’s Winston Brothers series is so beloved in the romance world! Each book follows one of the seven beared, burly Winston brothers. This one is a friends to lovers/mistaken identity story!
