10 Books That Feel like Gilmore Girls

Read the 2022 Updated Version of this Post!

Fall is the unofficial Gilmore Girls season, right? I usually start my rewatch of the show in October because it doesn’t really feel like Fall until then. I love Autumn but I also love Summer and try to hang on as long as possible!

Gilmore Girls always feels like home for me with its Connecticut setting. But it’s really a universal vibe of a small town, close friends, and family drama. If you’re looking for books that give off the same vibes of the show, look no further than these books!

Some of these I have read, some came as recommendations, and others are on my To Be Read List but I’ve noted each!

The City Baker’s Guide to Country Living by Louise Miller

This is a book I’ve recommended a bunch but it just has the perfect atmosphere! And the cover itself says “Like Gilmore Girls in a book” so…it had to be in the first spot! It’s about a pastry chef at an inn in Vermont in a small town that takes her in after her life turns upside down. Sound familiar?

Well Met by Jen DeLuca

Probably my favorite book on this list because it captures the charm of Stars Hollow so well. It’s about a small town with a big Renaissance Faire. It captures that feeling of a whole town coming together to create something every Summer that brings everyone together. Plus, a grumpy dark haired local meets a new spunky gal who doesn’t want to get involved in town antics? Love it.

Well Matched by Jen DeLuca

This is the third book in the Willow Creek series and I think also does. a great job pulling those Gilmore Girls vibes, especially because our main character is a single mom! Plus there’s some good town gossip in this romcom because it uses the fake dating trope!

Where’d You Go Bernadette by Maria Semple

I laughed out loud reading this book and it totally captures the quirky character aspect of Gilmore Girls. It’s unique and zany and I highly recommend it!

The Tourist Attraction by Sarah Morganthaler

This wasn’t a romance for me personally, but I do think if you like the sweet and wholesome kind of romance, you’ll enjoy this story about a grumpy bartender in small town Alaska who meets a bubbly tourist.

Musical Chairs by Amy Poeppel

This has been on my TBR for ages but from reviews I’ve read I think it perfectly captures Stars Hollow and it’s even set in a Connecticut town!

A Sky Painted Gold by Laura Wood

This book is said to capture the feeling of Logan and Rory’s relationship. Now, I am and always will be #TeamJess, but I know Logan is a favorite as well. it’s historical fiction, set in the 1920s and follows the romance between a wealthy young man and a not so wealthy young woman.

The Ex Hex by Erin Sterling

When I was reading this book, all I could think about what a paranormal Stars Hollow. It’s about witches in. a quaint small town in Georgia that is known for its Halloween festivals. A colorful cast of characters and a sweet as pie romance with just the right amount of spice.

The Star Crossed Sisters of Tuscany by Lori Nelson Spielman

I haven’t read this one but I’ve seen it compared to the warmth and coziness of Gilmore Girls a lot. It’s has family dynamics and lots of delicious food which, at the end of the day, is a huge part of Gilmore Girls.

The Bad Mother’s Handbook by Kate Long

Another one I haven’t read but it definitely sounds like it fits the bill. A teenaged mother, a difficult relationship between a mother and daughter…Lorelai, Emily, and Rory!

I’d love to know any you’d add to this list!
