What I Read in March 2021

Another month in the books! March was weird and tough and I’m grateful that it ended with signs of Spring. This month was full of personal challenges, work challenges, and the loss of a loved one, so I didn’t do a lot of reading but I’m still pleased with finishing 9 books!

I dipped my toes in the dark romance waters and I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed it! I reread some comfort reads that brought me light in the darkness. I finished one of my most anticipated books of the year and took a chance on a book that pulled in me in by it’s cover. I finished off the month with a book I’d been putting off and ending up being totally enthralled with. Here are those books!

**As I’ve mentioned before, Dark Romance is a genre where romance meets thriller. They tend be very open door, potentially taboo, and can have some wild triggers. Please check trigger warnings before reading, as these books will not be for everyone. We do not shame anyone for their reading choices here, but do be prepared if you decide to pick my recommendations up.

Liar.jpeg

Liar by Tate James—Now that’s a cover, isn’t it? THe second book in the Madison Kate series and things really start to ramp up, steam and plot wise. The ending of this book!!! Such a cliffhanger, I was so excited to jump right into book 3. Series review here.

Fake.jpeg

Fake by Tate James—If I had to choose one of the MK boys…I think I’d choose Archer. But the beauty of this series is that MK doesn’t have to choose! Series review here.

Kate.jpeg

Kate by Tate James—The ending of this series was * chef’s kiss *. So fun, so spicy, and you totally just buy into the wild plot. I wish I could reread it for the first time again. Full series review here.

TheSimpleWild.jpeg

The Simple Wild by KA Tucker—It’s kind of redundant at this point, as I’m sure most long time readers will know how I much I love this series, but I reread it for the third time when I needed some comfort and it totally fit the bill. Review here.

WildAtHeart.jpeg

Wild at Heart by KA Tucker—Another reread, but I love this look into what happens “after happily ever after” with Jonah and Calla. I love how their world expands and the new characters we get to meet. Review here.

ForeverWild.jpeg

Forever Wild by KA Tucker—The Simple Wild Christmas special! Another reread and a fitting goodbye to these beloved characters. Review here.

ActYouAgeEveBrown.jpeg

Act Your Age, Eve Brown by Talia Hibbert—One of my most anticipated 2021 releases did not disappoint! I didn’t vibe with Chloe and Red’s story, but I loved Dani and Zaf so I was very excited to meet Eve and Jacob! It’s fun and while it does have two open door intimate scenes, I wouldn’t say it’s extremely steamy.

FloatPlan.jpeg

Float Plan by Trish Doller—This book wasn’t on my radar until I saw the cover. I’m a sailor so I’m a sucker for a sailboat on the cover and new I needed it on my shelf. I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed Anna’s story. It’s heavy at times, as she is healing from her fiance’s death by suicide. But she meets an Irish sailor named Keane and hilarious, sweet, and heartbreaking hijinks ensue as they sail from Florida to the islands together.

TheseViolentDelights.jpeg

These Violent Delights by Chloe Gong—I had seen this book around and was intrigued by the STUNNING cover, but never knew what it was about. Thanks to TikTok (which I’m on now, oh Lord), I found out that it is a Romeo & Juliet retelling. Shakespeare retellings are my jam, so I immediately grabbed it. The world in this book is so vibrant and rich—It’s set in 1920’s Shanghai with rivals gangs, forbidden romance, and a mysterious disease taking over the city. I didn’t find it triggering to read mid-Pandemic but the word vaccine is used a lot LOL.

And that’s it! 9 books! I usually average 12-14, but like I said, March was a tough month. I watched a lot of New Girl and YouTube when I wasn’t reading, plus Nick and I are watching the Marvel movies in order which has been fun! Maybe I’ll do an additional monthly favorites post if anyone is interested.

All in all, a pretty solid reading month! I’m still loving my Kindle and I’ll have reviews coming for all of these books soon. I’m getting ready for summer reading and I truly can’t wait for warmer days. April is going to be a doozy of a month so I’m not going to put too much pressure on myself but there are some books I cannot wait to read!
