Valentine's Day at Home for Two

Over the weekend, Nick and I looked at each other and realized we hadn’t gotten dressed up and had a date in over a year. The last “date night” we had wasn’t even a real date, because it was for work! On February 7, 2020 we went to see Phantom of the Opera on Broadway because Nick was working on the show and hadn’t seen it in a while. I remember feeling very strange and nervous in the theatre, being seated so close to so many people, as new of the Coronavirus was coming out of China.

So we decided, vey last minute, to get dressed up on Saturday night and have an at home date night. We had so much fun and it felt so good to get ready for “something” even though we were just hanging out in our living room as usual. But we made the effort and had such a good time.

For Valentine’s Day, we want to bring that same energy. I know not everyone enjoys Valentine’s Day but for us, it’s the kick off to our anniversary, which is February 16, so we always just extend the celebration.

Here’s our plan to make the weekend a little special!

We’re going to use the cheese fondue for dinner with homemade French bread, assorted meats, and veggies! And the chocolate fondue for dessert with our favorite fruits, strawberries and pineapple, plus pretzels, caramels, and caramel waffle cookies.

This is the Fondue Pot we have. It’s currently on backorder but here are some similar options! Stainless Steel

White & Brass

You can also use your stove stop to melt the chocolate or cheese and use these stainless steel skewers if you don’t want to invest in the pot!

You can make it a little celebration with these easy additions for fun napkins and a sparkly cocktail! We’ll probably just have prosecco because it’s my favorite special occasion drink.

What are your thoughts on Valentine’s Day? Any special plans? I think this could be fun to do with a group over Facetime or Zoom as well.
