Weekly Wrap Up 12/17/21
I’m being pretty candid today about how I feel right now so if you want to skip it, go right ahead!
I’m not going to sugar coat how I’m feeling currently. I’m angry and scared and frustrated with news coming out about the new Omicron variant. I’m stressed about the holidays. We planned a very small Christmas, just with my parents in Connecticut, but my mom is immunocompromised and I’m so angry with everyone who won’t get the vaccine. I’m tired of feeling like I can’t fully express myself in the space I’ve created for fear of trolls berating me in my email and DMs. I’m tired of all of this and I know everyone is too.
That being said, I’m not giving up. I’m going to continue washing my hands, wearing my mask, and not partaking in unnecessary risks to help stop the spread of this new variant throughout my community. I got my booster shot (just had a sore arms and some body aches!) and I continue to do weekly testing through the theater where I’m currently employed.
This week was all about escapism for me. I read a cute YA book, listened to an all consuming memoir, read a VERY smutty holiday romance, and reread a festive book as well. I also may have done a little “treat yourself” damage to cope as well but I’m justifying them as birthday gifts to myself.
What I Read:
The Holiday Switch | Crying in H Mart | Dipped in Holly | In a Holidaze
Currently Reading:
The Mistletoe Motive | The Inheritance Games
Purchases of the Week:
Bullet Journal // Kindle Paperwhite 11th Generation // Kindle Decal // Calendar // ACOTAR Hardcover Set // Plaid Top // Plaid Dog Vest // Ski Sweater //
Got My Eye On:

Listening & Watching:
A Merry Happy Whatever // The Sex Lives of College Girls
And Just Like That Thoughts—Okay so I’ve never been a huge Sex and the City fan but I do enjoy it from time to time. It’s a show that definitely has not held up over the years so you can see in the reboot what they were trying to do with diversifying their cast. I love Sara Ramirez, Nicole Ari Parker and Karen Pittman so I’m glad to see them onscreen. However, it seems like they’re using those characters to further the existing three white female characters instead of letting them exist fully on their own. Which just furthers the problem of centering whiteness. Anyone else have thoughts?
Weekend Plans:
We are laying low this weekend! Nick is getting his booster shot and I have rehearsal so other than that, we’re not going to be doing much except for baking some Christmas cookies and watching movies! I want to enjoy this slow weekend before the holidays and I think it will be better for my mental health anyway.
