Jólabókaflóð and Our Family Traditions
I spent a lot of December last year looking up different holiday traditions and polling my friends for their because I wasn’t sure what the holidays were going to look like. One tradition I knew I wanted to start was our version of Jólabókaflóð, which I’m sure most people know about by now. There was a viral post going around the internet a few year ago about the Yule Book Flood.
I reread this post from last year and I forgot how fun that article sounded! Last year, my family had to participate from afar but hopefully this year we will be able to gather safely since everyone is vaccinated!
The holidays are always super busy but I do like to take some time for myself on Christmas Eve. I try to read a whole book by the light of the tree and ~ romanticize the moment. I try to pick something that’s short and sweet or nostalgic. Here are the books I’m thinking about!
Forever Wild by KA Tucker
A reread and a novella so it’s totally doable to read in one night! I wanted to reread this one on Christmas Eve last year but I was actually too sad haha so Nick and I watched movies instead. Maybe this year will be the year!I
Amor Actually by Zoey Castile, Alexis Daria, Adriana Herrera, Diana Muñoz Stewart, Priscilla Oliveras, Sabrina Sol, and Mia Sosa
Probably one of my most anticipated holiday reads of the year! It releases December 7 and is an anthology from some of my favorite authors, so I will definitely be reading it this season!
Holiday Home Run by Priscilla Oliveras
I actually have never read any of Priscilla Oliveras’ books but I know she has a loyal fan base! I downloaded this one onto my Kindle last year and never got around to reading it so maybe this will be the season!
The Holiday Switch by Tif Marcelo
YA and the perfect size to read in one night! It’s about 270 pages and the story sounds so cute! I included it in my 2021 Holiday Reading Guide.
Jingle Wars by R. Holmes and Veronica Eden
Another reread from last year but I so enjoyed it! It’s enemies to lovers, has the snowed in trope and it so perfectly atmospheric for the holidays!
I would LOVE to know some of your favorite holiday traditions! Since this is our first Christmas married, we’re looking to add some new ones to last us a lifetime.
