Review: Wild at Heart by KA Tucker

Sequels are incredibly hard. I never expected to get a sequel to The Simple Wild but I have to say…K.A. Tucker delivered! It was such a joy to read this book. I definitely savored it; I read it about 20-25% at a time, only in the evenings with one of my favorite ASMR rooms on my TV. It was the perfect atmosphere and helped me enjoy this cozy continuation even more.

Synopsis: Wild at Heart picks up right were left off—Calla has returned to Toronto, Jonah turning up on her front doorstep declaring his desire to make their relationship work, no matter the cost. Calla is off to Alaska, ready to make a move for the man she loves. But with her mother’s history with Alaska weighing heavily on her mind, the fear of history repeating itself leaves Calla wondering if love is enough.

What I liked:

• Calla’s story—she really comes into her own in this novel. She and Jonah are figuring out how to make their lives work after their “Happily Ever After” which is no easy feat.

• The side characters—we are introduced to some fantastic new characters in this book! While I missed a number of the players from the original, I liked that this showed how both Calla and Jonah were striking out on a new adventure together. Zeke and Marge made me laugh way too hard.

• Its existence—this sounds dramatic but I didn’t know how else to describe it! I am someone who Is will always be grateful for my favorite stories living on. While I can be disappointed, I am usually just happy for more. That’s exactly how I felt with this book! I was so pleased to just have MORE of these characters and especially, more Alaska.

In excited news, we will be getting a THIRD book this December! Forever Wild is due out just in time for the holidays. Jonah and Calla winter wedding…?
