Review Round Up
I closed out February with two light reads and one heavy audiobook. Sometimes I feel like it’s easier to do the heavy stuff on audio because I don’t feel alone as I’m processing everything. Can anyone else relate?
I wanted to do a Review Round Up of these books on the blog. You can see my initial reviews on my Instagram!
Josh and Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating by Christina Lauren: I LOVED this book. It was supposed to get me out of my To All the Boys I Loved Before/Wild at Heart hangover and it just pushed me further into it! It is the story of Hazel Bradford who has always been a little too much and Josh Im, her ultimate college crush. They’re determined to remain best friends and go on a series of blind dates with each other to keep the other in their lives, until they realize they’ve been playing a different game all along.
She Said by Jodi Kantor and Meghan Twohey—These two women broke the initial story surrounding Harvey Weinstein and the sexual harassment in Hollywood. It is an excellent piece of journalism and I hate that it came out at the same time as Ronan Farrow’s Catch and Kill. You can’t help but compare the two. While She Said isn’t as “edge of your seat” as Farrow’s, it is the story from the women who broke down barriers and made the women feel safe to come forward. It is an astounding piece of journalism.
The Hating Game by Sally Thorne—Ashley mentioned this one in our first Pitch episode on Read It or List It and I fell for it and…loved it. I don’t think it’s for everyone and I can TOTALLY see the flaws in Josh (he has a little possessive Christian Grey vibe going on) but it pulled me under it’s spell and I flew through it in barely two days.
