Review: Jingle Wars by R. Holmes and Veronica Eden

If you’ve been reading my reviews for a while, you’ll know one of my favorite tropes in romance is enemies to lovers. I love the banter and the stakes! Give me an enemies to lovers romance set at Christmas and it’s a done deal that I’ll read it.

So, when I read the description of Jingle Wars, I knew it was going to be a must read. I really liked it! It was sweet, steamy, and a ton of fun. I have a huge crush on Finn and was able to fly through it in just about a day. It’s fun and festive, so if you’re looking for a hot and heavy romance for the holiday season, this is a great option!

Synopsis: “Two inns, one town, and there’s not enough room for the both of them.Add in a reindeer-ish donkey, a Christmas competition, and a rivalry to end all rivalries and you’re bound to end up in disaster, right?Finn Mayberry has enough on his plate trying to keep his Grandparents inn afloat. The last thing he needed was some California state of mind starlet bulldozing into his town and throwing up a five-star resort right next to his family’s inn. But, now she’s here and he can’t get her out of his town or his head.Freya Anderson took one look at the snowcapped mountains of Hollyridge and fell in love. She’s finally here and ready to take on the task of proving to her father that she can handle running Alpine. She never expected to make enemies with the sinfully delicious lumberjack of a man who runs the inn next door. He’s moody, impossible and completely off limits. There can only be one winner, but you know what they say. All is fair in love and… Jingle Wars?”

What I Liked:

  1. The Trope—Like i said, I’m always a fan of enemies to lovers. I think the tension was really fun between Finn and Freya, especially since we had both of their POVs.

  2. The Setting—The mountains of Montana at Christmas were DELIGHTFUL and romantic. I loved reading about the snowy town.

  3. The Steam—I love when authors aren’t afraid to just go for it. This one is steamy and may have some language that doesn’t vibe with everyone, but it’s * fire emoji *

  4. The Characters—It’s very Stars Hollow esque with this cast of small town characters! FInn’s grandparents are so sweet and I loved the connections made between characters.

What Didn’t Work:

  1. The Pacing—It’s a holiday romance, so it moves quickly to get to the happily ever after. Not a huge deal, but just took away a bit of the believability.
