What I Read In November

November has felt a bit like that saying about March: it came in like a lion and out like a lamb. November began with lots of anxiety, staying up until 2am during the week of the Election. We had a serious health scare in the middle of the month that brought a lot of worry to our home and families. And we ended the month with a small, quiet, blissful Thanksgiving, just the two of us.

As always, I had high hopes for this month that weren’t met. I wrote maybe 8,000 words in my work in progress for NaNoWriMo. I just could not sit down and focus on what I wanted to write and you know what? That is perfectly okay.

There will always be time to write and it will happen. It just wasn’t meant to be with things being so wild this November. Janu-wrimo, anyone?

We also had so much to celebrate! Read & Wright hit 10,000 followers on Instagram, which has been a goal of mine for some time! I read 11 books and loved 10 of them. #TisTheReadson begins and it’s the most wonderful time of the year!

While this year has been, to put it mildly, a royal dumpster fire, I want to end this year with gratitude, warmth, and joy. I have been tested in ways I never thought possible but I am still standing.

Here’s what I read this month: some romance, some fantasy, and lots of holiday stories.

Take a Hint, Dani Brown by Talia Hibbert—A delightful surprise. Find my review here!

The Idea of You by Robinne Lee—This is pretty much the only book I didn’t love this month. Some adore it, it just wasn’t the book for me. Find my review here.

Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas—Things really began to pick up in the 4th installment of Throne of Glass! I’ll be reviewing the entire series when I finish it.

Dominicana by Angie Cruz—A book a wish I read sooner but so happy I finally got to it! Find my review here.

Written in the Stars by Alexandra Bellefleur—I adored this book! It is sweet and quirky and steamy. Plus a sneaky holiday romance, as it takes place between Thanksgiving and New Years! Thank you William Morrow books for my copy. Review here!

Empire of Storms by Sarah J. Maas—This one dragged in the middle for BUT ended on such a high note!

How to Fail at Flirting by Denise Williams—I want everyone to read this book! My full review will be posted soon but it releases December 1. Thank you Berkley Romance for my copy.

All I Want For Christmas by Wendy Loggia—This book is so cheesy but so worth it. I loved it so much! And it’s a quick read, I read it in just about a day. Review coming soon!

A Princess for Christmas by Jenny Holiday—If you’ve ever want a Hallmark movie to turn up the steam, this is the book for you. It is delightfully self aware, cheesy, and romantic plus wonderfully sexy. Thank you Avon Books for my copy.

Troubles in Paradise by Elin Hilderbrand—If you know me, I have a very sentimental attachment to Elin Hilderbrand. I enjoyed this ending to the Paradise series and I’m glad I saved it to read over Thanksgiving! Reviews for the first two books here and here. Thank you to Little Brown for my copy.

Forever Wild by K.A. Tucker—And finally, how much did this book mean to me? I loved it. It’s a holiday novella and returning to Alaska with Calla and Jonah at Christmas was * chef’s kiss * delightful. It releases December 1 as well. Reviews for the first two books here and here! Thank you to K.A. Tucker for my early copy.

Overall, a very very solid reading month. I’m looking forward to reading for joy in this last month of the year and into 2021!
