Writing Update #5: My NaNoWriMo Goals
Last week I shared what I was going to be focusing on leading up to National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo). Today, I want to share what my goals are for the 30 days of November!
Write 1,000 Words/Day
If you don’t know, the goal of NaNoWriMo is to write 50,000 words, which breaks down to about 1,600 words a day. Which is…in short…a lot. I am definitely goal oriented but 50k seems like A LOT this year, so instead I am going to strive to write 1,000 words per day. I not going to have a final word count goal this year simply because I’d rather focus on the small, day to days of writing rather than the end goal.
And if I write 50,000 it will be a pleasant surprise!
No Editing
My other big goal is that I don’t want to edit as I write. I love my characters so much so I usually have a ton of fun revisiting them each day and rereading what I wrote the day before. But then I get caught up editing and am less productive! So I simply want to WRITE. Then I can edit December 1.
Write through the rough days
Sometimes it can be hard to push through the uncreative days. But, at its core, writing is a discipline. So I want to focus on writing through the difficult moments!
These are the 3 things I’m going to be focusing on as I write! If you’re writing, what are your goals? And if you’re not, what processes would you like to see documented?
