Wedding Wednesday: Our Custom Map

One of the things I’ve been drawn to while wedding planning has been personalizing our weekend. I’ve been following Krista Robertson for a while and her wedding has been a huge inspiration for me. I loved her Save the Dates, since she had an artist commission a custom map of their wedding venues on Nantucket.

I knew I wanted to incorporate a custom map in some way into our wedding. I have some ideas and I’ll be sharing how we’ll be using this gorgeous piece for our weekend closer to the wedding. But I wanted to share the finished commission this week because it’s important to celebrate female entrepreneurs!

My good friend Lyndsey is an artist and has the cutest designs. On a whim, I reached out to her about creating a custom wedding map for us. At the time, she was just drawing for fun, but I knew there something special about her work. Lyndsey is opening her very own Etsy shop this week and I could not be more excited for the world to see how talented she is!

She was so easy to work with and if you’re looking for something unique for your wedding or special event, I cannot recommend her enough!

Here’s how it all worked:

I emailed Lyndsey a vision board with examples of what I was looking for. I also sent her a board containing the actual places I wanted her to draw. She was so open to my feedback and really worked collaboratively with me to make sure I knew this was a piece for me, so I needed to be 100% happy with the product. And I could not be HAPPIER! We were driving home from a trip when I got the final product and I full of cried. Nick loves it too!

I decided having it be a literal map wasn’t as important as it was to have all the venues represented. Ours is not geographically correct, so @ our guests, don’t try to follow it lol. We have our rehearsal dinner spot, our welcome party spot, the church, and finally our reception venue. Isn’t it perfect?

Check out our map below and all of Lyndsey’s other amazing designs on her page! She can create almost anything and has tons of fun items besides custom commissions. Her shop opens Friday September 27 at 8am CST!
