Travel Guide: Magnolia Market in Waco, Texas!

This past week was so.much.fun. Like I said in Friday’s post, visiting Magnolia Market in Waco, Texas has always been a dream of ours. We always would talk about it and the fact that we did it is HUGE. I’m not very good about crossing things off my bucket list so I’m thrilled we are able to pull this one off.

I thought I’d put together a little travel guide and recap of what it’s like to visit Magnolia, since we learned A LOT in our short time there. Plus I’ll include some of the places that were recommended to me in the area!

Magnolia Market is open 10am-6pm Monday-Saturday. I would recommend going early in the day or late, because around lunch time it is PACKED. And rightly so, they have a ton of food trucks, a bakery, the market, a garden, seed supply store, and open spaces for family and friends to sit and relax.

Despite how busy it was when we were there, we still had a great time! Sadly we didn’t go in the bakery because the line was wrapped around the block. It does move relatively quickly, but I decided to just grab a cupcake from the Silo Bakery food truck instead!

Nick got a pulled pork sandwich from one truck while I waited in line for a gourmet grilled cheese from The Cheddar Box. Nick had purchased and eaten his lunch before I’d even made it close to ordering, so while he waited with me he decided he also needed a grilled cheese! I ordered The Boss Power Couple, which is gouda, basil, and bacon with a side of Mac ’n cheese. Nick had the Guac this Way Power Couple, which was like a grilled cheese quesadilla combo with a side of Mac ’N cheese.

We ate and relaxed and then headed into the market! It was all decked out for Christmas, so I was in heaven. I picked out some ornaments for us and a candle (which I think will be my new favorite it’s AMAZING) and gifts for family and friends.

Then it was cupcake and picture time! We met so many wonderful people. Everyone in Texas is so friendly!

After Magnolia, we headed to Fabled Bookshop which came highly recommended to me! I think it might be my new favorite bookstore because I loved how bright and clean it felt, which lovely staff and an awesome cafe. They even serve beer and wine! It seems like they lots of fun events too.

We stayed in downtown at the Hilton and it was perfect walking distance to Magnolia, Fabled Bookshop, and lots of bars and restaurants! It’s like a modern old west town, that’s the only way I can describe it!

For dinner, we went to Diamondback Steakhouse and it was soooooo good. We were so bummed we couldn’t get leftovers because we were flying out the next morning! Nick had the Crunchy 254 Roll (ahi tuna, crabstick, avocado, cucumber, wasabi, cream, tempura, micro greens) and I had the Miso Glazed Salmon.

We had our Silo Bakery cupcakes for dessert and enjoyed the lights of Waco at night! Though it’s closed, Magnolia lights up and it’s so magical. I loved it!

Other great places to check out:

1. Lula Jane’s in Waco

2. Buc-ee’s = famous rest stops

3. Czech stop is exit 353 once you pass Waco on way to Dallas. Best kept secret in Texas

We loved this little trip and one day was more than enough to do it all!
