Wedding Wednesday: Our Wedding Vibe

When we first got engaged, I thought I knew exactly what I wanted for our wedding. I had a very clear vision of the big picture, but the further along we got in planning the more I realized how much detail goes into an event this size. I knew I didn’t want a wedding “theme” but when vendors asked me to described the day in three words, I’d say “classic, timeless, elegant…with a little something something.”

I think themed events are fun, and if you want to have one for your wedding, by all means do it! But that is not our style.

It’s important to us that our guests have an amazing time and that we lots of personal touches on a day that can sometimes feel like it flies by. So we are having a whole weekend of events and a Black Tie wedding!

I’m so excited for it. I’ve always wanted my wedding to feel like a really special event, so that’s why my mom and dad thought Black Tie would suit that! Ha, suit. Get it? Okay, I’ll stop with the dad jokes.

I thought it would be fun to include a little vision board of what I’m picturing, though nothing has been decided officially, since we still have a year of planning ahead of us!

I know a lot of people do a variation of Black Tie, such as Black Tie Optional or Creative Black Tie, which can definitely be fun. But I am someone that doesn't like to be left guessing, so I think guests can appreciate a very clear dress code.

Since we're getting married at the church in the mid afternoon, we are going to encourage guests to wear more casual, church appropriate attire to the ceremony and then during the gap between ceremony and reception, they can change into their evening wear!

I saw this invitation that includes a little illustration of what to wear and how cute is that? I don’t know if we’ll be doing that but I definitely think it’s a great way to utilize your wedding website. Guests generally go to it for your registry, so I think we’ll put a section for attire as well! I never want anyone to feel out of place.

I think you can set the tone for your wedding from the very beginning with your Save the Date and invitations. We’re taking our engagement photos soon and our save the dates will be in the mail right after!!! I cannot WAIT!
